Residential development - Colwyn Bay

Planning had been passed for the development of a previously levelled site at Colwyn Bay. During the site surveys badgers had been reported to be present in the area around the site.

Switch Ecology were commissioned to carry out a badger survey of the site and the surrounding area, to identify the current level of badger activity and the potential impact of the development on the territory of badgers.

Following the survey Switch Ecology prepared a method statement that allowed the works to be carried out in a manner that ensured that the badgers remained unaffected by the works. The method statement was submitted to Natural Resources Wales (NRW) and a badger licence was obtained to cover the development. Works are currently ongoing on the site in line with the licence methodology.
